Volunteers Needed for DNA DAY Chatroom! On April 20 from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) will host its annual DNA Day Chatroom. Genomics and genetics experts from across the country will gather to answer questions from students, teachers and the general public on topics ranging from basic genomic research to the genetic basis of disease to ethical questions about genetic privacy. This is an opportunity for experts in the field of genetics and genomics to reach out to high school students around the country and to answer their questions. Transcripts from past Chatrooms can be found at http://www.genome.gov/20519689. The NHGRI would like to increase the number of individuals available to answer questions during Chatroom by asking for the participation of additional chatters located outside of the National Institutes of Health campus. The only requirement will be a high speed internet connection. The NHGRI will hold a webinar training course to walk participating "remote experts" through the Chatroom procedures and answer any questions prior to the Chatroom. If you are interested in volunteering please provide your information through this online survey: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22ETEX7PTFZ no later than March 1. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Carla Easter at anytime. |
