Newborn Screening Recommendations for Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD): Implications for State Programs
Webinar on March 22, 2012 from 2:00-3:00 PM (EST)
Meeting Description: |
In October 2010, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Secretary's Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children (SACHDNC) recommended the addition of Critical Congenital Cyanotic Heart Disease (CCCHD) to the Committee's Recommended Uniform Screening Panel (RUSP). In September 2011, DHHS Secretary Sebelius adopted the SACHDNC recommendation to add Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) to the RUSP. This webinar will focus on the background of the point-of-care CCHD screening recommendations and potential roles of state health departments. Presentations will include considerations for roles of state health departments with CCHD screening, an overview of state activities, and lessons learned from New Jersey’s experience with implementing mandated screening. |
