CCHD Screening: An Overview for Moving Forward

2. Describe national efforts, endorsements and recommendations surrounding CCHD screening.

3. Describe current state of newborn and CCHD screening within the Heartland Genetics and Newborn Screening Collaborative.

4. Identify resources for implementation and education of providers and parents.

5. Describe recommendations for moving forward with legislative and implementation efforts.




Presenters from Children's National Medical Center (Washington, DC):

Gerard R. Martin, MD, FAAP, FACC
Senior Vice President, Center for Heart, Lung and Kidney Disease; Co-Director, Children's National Heart Institute; Professor of Pediatrics, George Washington University
Dr. Martin is a nationally recognized expert in pediatric cardiology. He has volunteered on medical missions to numerous third-world countries. Dr. Martin is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. In addition, he also served on the American Board of Pediatrics sub-board in pediatric cardiology. Dr. Martin is an associate editor for Pediatric Cardiology, and has more than 100 publications in the field of pediatric cardiology. He is an invited speaker nationally and internationally.

Elizabeth A. Bradshaw, MSN, RN, CPN is the coordinator for the Congenital Heart Disease Screening Program. Elizabeth is responsible for coordinating research efforts surrounding the use of pulse oximetry screening for critical congenital heart disease in the newborn nursery. In addition, she helps hospitals implement pulse ox screening for serious congenital heart disease in their nurseries. Elizabeth has made a number of presentations and has publications surrounding screening for critical congenital heart disease. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia and a Master's of Science in Nursing from The George Washington University.



This Webinar will take place Monday, May 14th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm CDT. The visual portion of the webinar will be conducted via Go-To-Meeting and the audio portion via VoIP (requires microphone and speakers) or telephone. After registration you will be given a unique web address for viewing the webinar and audio information.
