Subject: Re: Major Contemporary Author Reading at OU

Thank you so much. I'm not sure who attended, but there were many students present whom I had not met before.

Perhaps your students would also be interested in the open mic we (OU Write Club) put on every other Thursday at Second Wind Coffee Shop at 8 p.m. We're on this week, and everyone's invited.

Thanks for your time.

Hello! I wrote to you last week (below) and wanted to follow up with a reminder that the George Saunders reading happens tonight. I hope you can join us and share the news with your students!

Dear OU Professional Writing Faculty:

This may interest your students and colleagues. Satirist, short story writer, and essayist George Saunders will give a free, public reading at OU on Monday, October 1 (8 p.m., Sam Noble Museum).

George Saunders is a regular contributor to the New Yorker, GQ, and Harpers. He is also the best-selling, award-winning author of three story collections (CivilWarLand in Bad Decline, Pastoralia, and In Persuasion Nation), a novella (The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil), a book of essays (The Braindead Megaphone), and a children's story (The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip). In 2006 he received both a MacArthur Fellowship and a Guggenheim Fellowship. His new collection of stories, Tenth of December, will be released in January. Mr. Saunders will read from that book and will be available afterward to talk and sign books.

The event also features a reading from OU Media Arts student Matthew Kaney, a frequent and beloved reader at the OU Write Club open mic series.

The flyer for this event and another for the entire Writing Life Reading Series are attached. Thank you for your time, and I hope we'll see you at the reading, too.

Sincerely,
Eric Bosse
