I am sending our division head two copies of the program for her record (University PR doesn't trust any of us with a digital copy, though I am attaching a rough draft copy of the flyer used for on-campus promotion and the jpeg file missing from the article.) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Below is copied an *asuinfo* reprint of the *Bham News* online story about the lecture today. Dr. Howard please take this message, on behalf of the Communications Department, as note of deep thanks for doing such an excellent job as our Wells lecture this year, not the least of which was your gifting your services and even your transportation and boarding costs in-kind to the department. I loved your sociometric "Questions for Graduating Seniors," your emphasis on a strong work ethic, research, reading and leadership. Most of our students had never seen an episode of *Good Times *before though they had heard of the show. Your family was so delightful and we all basked in their affection, admiration and support of you. Faculty, students and alumni alike had good things to say about your performance. Again I wish to thank Mr. Ellington for his incredible contribution of arranging for the BTW students, the plaque delivery and of course for referring me to Dr. Howard to begin with. Thanks to Ms. Laffitte for sticking through all the trials of requisitioning and software frustrations to do so. Ditto for Ms. Clarke who did the repeated follow through for the flyers and the programs through the university relations bureaucracy. Thanks to Dr. Byrd for attaining the room and guest parking permit even though she wasn't able to attend. We missed you. We thank Misters Himsel, Robinson and Allen for all their technical set up expertise both before the speaker came to campus, when the house opened and assisting students to get usable recordings during and afterward. Thanks Mr. Himsel also for writing the bio blurb in the program. Thank you to Ms. Williams for coming and minding the roll sheets even though she was in extreme physical discomfort and not even on the committee. Thanks to Dr. Emmanuel for coming and any other faculty and staff I may have missed. We thank Dr. Autry for her including us in the BHM work again and for her intense interest in the program even while she tended to her mother in the hospital today. Thank you to Dr. Okeowo for arranging the speaker luncheon afterward. Thank you to Dr. English for representing Provost/VPAA Dr. Wilson.
