It’s My Future! iPad App It’s My Future! is a new iPad app designed to support adults with developmental disabilities to become more self-determined and to meaningfully participate in their annual planning meetings. The app provides self-paced videos to help people with developmental disabilities learn more about planning and leading their meetings. Topics include decision making, goal setting, and communication skills. This app was developed by AbleLink Technologies and the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities, in collaboration with the Institute for Human Development at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Disability History Museum Offers Online Archive The Disability History Museum provides a digital archive of items related to the historical experience of people with disabilities in the United States. Available at www.disabilitymuseum.org, the archive allows you to search for articles, photographs, reports, and other items about a variety of topics. Materials in the archive date back to the 18th century and represent disability through the life span. | ||
New Transition Websites The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) Transition Steering Committee launched a new website that focuses on transition for youth with disabilities. The website features news, events and resources for youth and their families, as well as educators and employment professionals. Visit the website at www.ed.gov. Also available is a new website at www.2012transition.org that provides materials from the 2012 National Transition Conference. This website includes captioned videos from the keynote and opening sessions, as well as materials from the breakout sessions, which are organized by topic. The website was developed by the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston. | ||
New Tips for Families Series The Office of Head Start’s National Center on Health has published a series of tip sheets that provide information to families about the health and wellness of young children.
