Dear OURMedia members, one month to go until the OURMedia event and IAMCR pre-conference in Dublin, Ireland, 24/25 June. Here's a brief update. Day 1 of the conference is organised by local community media activists, particularly from the organisations DCTV and CRAOL. It will take place in a city centre venue in Dublin and include a mix of workshops, discussions and presentations, some with a more practical focus and some with a more academic approach, some focusing on the situation in Dublin and Ireland and some addressing international concerns. Day 2 is to be held at Dublin City University, the venue for the IAMCR conference. It will have a more traditional academic conference format, although we'll try to keep presentations short and maximise the time for discussions and exchange. The programme for Day 2 is currently finalized by a small team of OurMedia members, and the full programme will be circulated soon. We've had several dozen abstract submissions, and most of them have been incorporated into the draft programme. We'll have interesting sessions on, for example, the role of community media in crisis situations and in processes of social/political change, and on the interactions between 'old' and 'new' media, with a focus on social media activism. Thankfully the local partners DCTV and CRAOL were able to mobilize sufficient funds to cover a few basic expenses (although, unfortunately, there are no funds for travel grants). The conference is, of course, free for everyone. Best, Arne
