I add my condolences.  Sebold was a superb scholar of the eighteenth century, with a vast knowledge of the European Enlightenment and the arts and music of the late seventeenth and the eighteenth century.  Tremendous scholarly rigor and a solid foundation in the Latin Classics, so fundamental for a proper understanding of the eighteenth century, no less than for the earlier ones.  As editor of the Hispanic Review for many years, he published materials that will outlast all passing fads.   He was also a gentleman.  Que descanse en paz.
