Dear Program Director,
Greetings from the Outreach Department at The Genome Institute at
Washington University School of Medicine. We are looking for
underrepresented students who may be interested in participating in our
program, Opportunities in Genomics Research (OGR). OGR programs are
directed to increasing the number of underrepresented students who pursue
PhD’s in genomics and related fields. These programs provides students
with a mentored research experience at Washington University, as well as
other engaging activities to prepare students for competitive PhD
programs.

We have two OGR programs that may be of interest to your students,
Undergraduate Scholars, an eight-week summer program and Extensive Study,
a one-year post-baccalaureate program. Both programs include conducting
research with premier investigators in genomics and genetics as well as
disciplines such as: cancer biology, molecular biology, immunology, and
others.  Supplemental activities for both programs include: GRE
preparation, journal club, seminars and career counseling and workshops.
We provide a competitive stipend/salary, housing (summer program only),
and travel to St. Louis.
