Subject: University of Minneosta Materials Research Science & Engineering Center Programs for Native American students

Dear LSAMP community,

Please see the following  REU programs at the University of Minnesota Materials Research Science and Engineering Center.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) fellowships are awarded to undergraduates for participation in a ten-week summer program designed to provide unique research experiences, professional development, and increased awareness of materials science and engineering. Each student performs research in one of the four UMN MRSEC Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs):Engineered Multiblock PolymersOrganic Optoelectronic Interfaces,Magnetic Heterostructures, and Nanoparticle-based Materials IRGs, or one of the various MRSEC Seed groups.

Programs below particularly for American Indian students, and faculty/student pairs:

American Indian Undergraduate Research Program. It is essentially the same as our Research Experiences for Undergraduates program, and is run concurrently, but strictly for American Indian students.  It is 10 weeks in the summer (housing, travel, and $5000 stipend included)

.  Deadline:  February 15, 2015.

his program is similar to the REU and American Indian Undergraduate Research Program (housing, travel, and $5000 stipend included), but involves a faculty member coming to campus with the undergraduate.  This has been a particularly effective program with tribal colleges because it helps ease the student in to the research university environment and also helps build collaborations between tribal college and UMN faculty. Faculty can participate 2-10 weeks- stipend is based on time in residence

.  Deadline:  February 15, 2015.
