Assistant Professor in Organizational Communication

The Department of Communication at the University of Kentucky invites applications for one full-time tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor in the field of Organizational Communication beginning August 15, 2015, pending final budgetary approval. A record of or potential for extramural funding and/or advanced statistical training is desirable. A Ph.D. in communication or a related discipline, evidence of excellence in teaching, and research and publication credentials commensurate with departments in RU/VH universities is required. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester, actively engaging in research, and participating on program and student committees.

The Department of Communication is a part of the College of Communication and Information with master’s and doctoral programs in communication, library and information science, and information, communication and technology. The College offers undergraduate programs in communication, journalism, media arts and studies, integrated strategic communication, and information, communication, and technology. The University has recognized Department faculty for their teaching excellence. The Department has an active research faculty with a consistent record of extramural funding. Research technology includes

• advanced web and handheld survey development,ukcampus_cropped
• custom web-data application development,
• “COMMTV”, a searchable, stream-able, television archive spanning 7 years,
• custom web-based coding system for efficient analysis of digital libraries,
• a 20-seat stadium-style theater for video stimuli presentation, and
• interpersonal and gaming/media effects interaction labs.

TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION

The Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of Maine seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor to conduct research and teach in the area of Environmental Communication. Expertise in the area of health related to the environment is desirable but not required. Tenure track faculty members engage in research, teaching and service activities. The successful candidate will be expected to advise bachelors, masters, and doctoral students and teach courses in quantitative and/or qualitative methods, environmental communication, and core courses that support our undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as develop and teach topical courses that support and extend our degree offerings. The teaching load for tenure track, full graduate faculty members is ordinarily two courses per term. The start date is September 1, 2015 for full-time academic year appointments.

Located on the northern border of beautiful Downeast Maine, the University of Maine, Orono, is the flagship campus of the University of Maine System and is the principal graduate institution in the state. Lecturer

The Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of Maine seeks to hire a full-time lecturer to teach introductory courses in communication such as public speaking, interpersonal communication, and storytelling as well as a graduate pro-seminar in communication pedagogy. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise and train graduate teaching assistants (16 total) and to develop and teach courses that support and extend our degree offerings. The ordinary workload for this position is two-three for undergraduate courses, plus a one credit graduate course and supervisory responsibilities related to our teaching assistant program. The start date for the nine-month appointment is August 2015; new teaching assistant orientation begins the last week of August. Summer teaching opportunities are available.
