Dear Bob:  I first met Ruiz Ramón when he was teaching at Purdue University.  He later went on to University of Chicago, and, I believe, later to Vanderbilt University.

He was a good, penetrating scholar.  I have always admired him as a scholar, and he was a fine person, to boot.  R.I.P. Joseph V.  Ricapito, Yenni Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge
