AEJMC membership is not required to submit a paper or proposal for the conference. Research paper submissions will undergo a process of evaluation by at least two reviewers. Decision notices will be sent no later than June 15, 2015. Please note that some papers may be chosen to be presented during a scholar-to-scholar poster session. AWARDS AND REFEREED JOURNAL PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY Accepted papers are automatically eligible for consideration for three awards: Top Faculty, Top Student, and AEJMC Latin America Regional Conference Top Paper. Accepted papers with faculty authors, whether sole or co-authored, are automatically eligible to be reviewed for the Top Faculty Paper Award. Accepted papers with student authors, whether sole or co-authored, are automatically eligible to be reviewed for the Top Student Paper Award. Certificates and cash prizes in the amount of $300, $200, and $100 will be given to the first, second, and third place winners for both the Top Faculty Paper and Top Student Paper awards. The AEJMC Latin America Regional Conference Top Paper Award, which can be single authored or co-authored with faculty and /or students, will be given to the top paper that most contributes to understanding journalism and communication in Latin America. The winner of this award will receive a certificate and $300 cash prize. In addition to the Top Paper awards, accepted papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of the refereed trilingual journal Cuadernos.info, the Scopus-indexed journal of the School of Communications at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. After reviewing accepted research papers, the journal's special issue editor will invite authors of up to 15 accepted papers to submit to the journal for publication in the special issue. Authors who accept the invitation will be subject to the journal's guidelines and review process. Paper and panel presentations can be in Spanish, Portuguese or English. At this point, we cannot guarantee simultaneous translation services for all sessions or panels. However, panelists may designate a peer translator from the participants. Also any participant may use a PowerPoint in another language from the one used during their presentation. During the conference, all meeting rooms will be equipped with a PC, a screen, and an LCD projector. Bear in mind that TV/VCRs, overhead projectors, and slide projectors will not be available. AEJMC will have a web-based paper distribution system. All conference registrants, as part of their fees, will have automatic access to all papers from the conference. Papers distributed through the web-based system will be those accepted during the review process. Authors will have an opportunity to update their papers prior to the conference. Presenters and conference attendants will be able to reserve meeting rooms during the conference for networking opportunities.
