Dear colleagues:

Dr. Jannette Dates received (earned) the Broadcast Education Association's Distinguished Education Service Award at this year's BEA convention currently underway in Las Vegas.



Among other work, Dr. Dates has served as vice president and president of BEA. Dean Emerita of the Howard University School of Communications, she serves on the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Board.


As you know, Dr. Dates co-edited the book, Split Image: African Americans in the Mass Media. She has written chapters for numerous other books, authored more than 20 peer-reviewed articles, as well as many general article publications.
