Creating a Classroom of Writers in Primary Grades

Putting Excitement into Writing Instruction--Participants will earn various strategies to excite students about writing.  Simple activities that will help ALL students learn to love writing.  This session will also include tips for writing for state writing assessment and ways 3rd/4th grade teachers can scaffold learning so students will be prepared for state writing assessments.  

Reading and Writing in The Early Childhood Classroom-How do you manage reading and writing in the early childhood classroom?  This presentation will include ideas on implementing reading and writing workshop in an early childhood classroom adapted from strategies and techniques learned during the August Reading Institute at Teacher's College at Columbia University in New York.   Participants will also learn ways to integrate the use of picture books and authors to establish writing routines while developing and engaging in authentic writing experiences.  


How to Teach Writing  while following RSA requirements--Helping students make gains to arrive at grade level as required by RSA law can be overwhelming.  Come to this session to learn how to interweave  reading and writing instruction while meeting mandates of RSA law.

Teaching Interactive Writing in Intermediate Grades-How to help all levels of learners in grades 3rd-5th--use Interactive Writing.  Attend this session to learn strategies to model writing that will engage all learners in your intermediate classroom.  

Creating a Classroom of Writers in Primary Grades-- Participants will earn engaging strategies for early childhood classrooms that foster a writing community and assists students in connecting literature and writing.  Student success is promoted through developmentally appropriate practices with fun education ideas that will keep the youngest student focused and active.
