Middle School Sessions presented by Melanie Vincent:  Incorporating the Six Traits in the Middle School ClassroomThe first session will focus on ideas, organization, and voice. The second session will focus on word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, and presentation.In these sessions, participants will learn about the importance of the six traits of writing and how powerfully they can change their students' writing. Each trait will be introduced and multiple activities that are easily incorporated into any curriculum will be shared. Many of the activities focus on group learning experiences for highly engaged classroom participation.  

High School Sessions presented by Jason Stephenson :Session 1: Teaching the 6 TraitsThrough a mixture of prose and poetry by published authors and student writers, cozy up to the six traits of writing—what they are and how to teach them. You’ll never look at writing—or movie snacks—the same again after this session.Session 2: Assessing the 6 TraitsLearn strategies and tips for assessing each of the six traits of writing. Develop a rubric that will work in your classroom along with a healthy perspective on how to handle the paper load in the English classroom.
