Are you interested in a paid summer research opportunity?

Have you ever considered pursuing a doctorate degree (PhD)?

Dear student,

If you answered yes to these two questions, then we have the perfect opportunity for you.  The Clarkson McNair Scholars Program offers a 10-week summer research program with a stipend plus a room & board package totaling more than $4,000.  Other benefits of the McNair program are workshops designed to explore the graduate school application process, GRE prep classes, industry and graduate school visits, faculty and peer mentoring, opportunities to present your research locally and at national conferences, as well as many other perks. Our ultimate goal is to help you successfully pursue a graduate degree. The estimated value of this program can total over $6,000 per student!

The McNair Program is funded by a grant from the US Department of Education and has been on the Clarkson campus since 1995. Every summer we connect undergraduate students with faculty mentors to perform research in Science and Engineering.  Past research topics have included; investigating the “Thrill” factor and integration of mathematics and physics with roller coasters, determining phylogenetic relationships amongst Australian agamid lizards, exploring goals of post-stroke rehabilitation, analyzing modifications on a scale model helicopter, and studying the composition and health of phytoplankton in the St. Lawrence River to name just a few.  Does this sound interesting to you?  If it does, you can be a part of it.

The 2016 summer research program is tentatively scheduled to run from May 25th –July 28th.  Application forms are available now and must be completed and returned by January 15th, 2016.  More information about the Clarkson McNair Scholars Program as well as downloadable application forms can be found at our website (www.clarkson.edu/pipeline/programs/mcnair.html).
