Subject: Apply Now! NCI Predoctoral F31 Diversity Fellowship!

Greetings from NCI Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities:

We met this past Fall  in the Exhibit Hall at the 2015 SACNAS conference in Washington, DC (October 2015).

I would like to encourage you to consider submitting an application for the F31 Diversity Fellowship (if you are eligible).  The F31 Diversity Fellowship is also known as the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship to Promote Diversity in Health- Related Research).  Please see the Program Announcement here:  http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-14-148.html

This program encourages students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to seek research doctoral degrees in the biomedical and behavioral sciences to help increase the number of well-trained scientists from underrepresented groups. The fellowship provides up to 5 years of support for research training leading to the Ph.D. or equivalent research degree, the combined M.D./Ph.D. degree, or other combined degrees in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences.

Those eligible for this program are individuals with disabilities, or from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, or individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing advanced degrees in the biomedical, behavioral or clinical sciences. The Fellowship applicant must have a baccalaureate degree and be currently enrolled in an eligible doctoral program.

Please contact me via email if you have interest in submitting an application for the April 13, 2016 deadline.

Here at the NCI Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities, we are committed to guiding students along their academic career path towards a successful independent scientific career.

Kind regards,

Dr. McNeil
