I have a name for someone to work on that mess up there. I need to set it all up and get it down, repair wiring, find out what has failed such that it wind vanes, and then we need to decide what to do. As far as I have been able to determine, nothing up there has a federal property ID, so we can deal with it without a lot of paperwork. If the shear bolt has failed, we need to determine why it keeps happening (this would be the second such failure); if it's a wind load issue, we need to decide what to get to replace the SteppIR. If the rotor has failed, it needs repairing and we have to face getting an antenna with less wind load. I suspect we need less wind load no matter what. I wish we could find a damping unit to reduce the shock loads, but I have no idea what to use or if such things exist that fit our needs.
If we get another antenna, how does that process work? Who decides? How is it purchased? In fact, what entity actually buys it? I'm the WX5NWC trustee, so I guess I'm going to be somehow involved...

know, but we have the vertical+tuner available. I have a D-STAR radio
available as well assuming there is to be D-STAR operation.
