The Department of Communication (http://www.loyola.edu/communication) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position at Assistant Professor rank beginning the fall semester 2018. Candidates should possess (1) the Ph.D. in an appropriate field; (2) broadcast experience and academic credentials to teach journalism and multimedia production in a comprehensive communication program geared toward professional communication; (3) potential for outstanding undergraduate teaching in our comprehensive undergraduate program as well as our M.A. program in Emerging Media; (4) an agenda for peer-reviewed research publication in the candidate’s interest area(s) that can lead to tenure. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and advise undergraduate students, serve on departmental and university committees, become involved in professional and academic groups, and support the university’s Catholic/Jesuit mission.

Essential Duties of the Position:
1. Teach journalism courses with a focus on journalism, multimedia, media writing & production.
2. Pursue an agenda for peer-reviewed scholarly publication.
3. After the first year, advise students.
4. Service to the department and university.
5. Ability to contribute to Loyola’s Catholic/Jesuit mission.

Required Qualifications: 

1. Ph.D. in an appropriate field.
2. Demonstrate successful teaching at the college level
3. Record of professional broadcast & production experience
4. Agenda for peer-reviewed research publication in area of research interest.
5. Ability to contribute to the Catholic/Jesuit mission.
