Public Relations – University of South Carolina
The School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina
invites applications for a seasoned tenure-track assistant or associate professor in public
relations to join the faculty in August 2018.
Appointment at the assistant professor level requires completion of the Ph.D. in public
relations, mass communications or a related field, and an established research agenda.
Assistant professor candidates should be able to demonstrate teaching experience as a
graduate teaching assistant, instructor of record or other relevant teaching experience,
and at least three years of professional experience in public relations.
Appointment at the associate professor level requires a strong record of scholarly
research.
Preferably, candidates should have experience teaching public relations at the
undergraduate and graduate levels, and at least three years of professional public
relations experience.
We are looking for a candidate with the ability and willingness to teach public relations
campaigns, writing, management and/or other courses in our undergraduate and
professional master’s program and to teach both research- and theoretical-based
courses in our doctoral program.
The ideal candidates will have expertise in digital, multicultural, or global public
relations or other areas of interest compatible with our public relations curriculum and
school mission. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate a record of service at the unit,
university and professional levels.
The School
The School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers bachelor’s, master’s and
doctoral degrees and enrolls approximately 1,500 undergraduates and 60 graduate
students. The School maintains a dual-track (academic and professional) tenure and
promotion system and values both academic credentials and professional expertise.
The faculty consists of a collegial group of researchers and educators with a wide range
