The North Carolina Central University Women’s
& Gender Studies Program is now accepting abstracts for the second annual
research symposium on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Durham, N.C.
Paper, panel and poster sessions are welcome
from all disciplines and diverse research methods that address intersections of
gender, race and/or class. Faculty, undergraduate and graduate students from
NCCU and the surrounding region are encouraged to submit. Topics could include,
but are not limited to: performing gender, representations of gender,
historical perspectives, social justice and gender, masculinity, and gendered
health and medicine.
Research should be the original work of the
author, engage theories and themes of feminism, womanism, women’s, gender, and
masculinity studies. Abstracts should be 375-500 words and give a clear sense
of relevant literature, research objectives, methodological approach, stage of
research project (conceptual, data gathering, data interpreting), findings and
conclusions. Submissions should be submitted to https://tinyurl.com/nccuwgst2018
At least one author of each accepted paper or poster must register and attend the conference to present the paper/poster. Failure to register by the deadline will result in authors’ names and papers being removed from the program.
