Move is Mobile Outreach using Volunteer Engagement (MOVE) an IEEE-USA initiative established in 2016 to provide mobile emergency relief. This program is committed to assisting victims of natural disaster with short-term communications,
computer, and power solutions. These temporary emergency relief provisions help those affected stay connected and make sure individuals can access and coordinate the help they need. Services includes phone charging, internet & communications support, and
lighting to disaster victims.
When not supporting disasters, it provides learning opportunities for the general public in the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
MOVE has deployed to over 27 disasters in the past 6 years throughout the eastern United States. In 2021, we acquired a new truck and are in the process of positioning this MOVE-2 truck to support the western United States. With two trucks,
we will be able to support the entire US.
MOVE-2 is destined for the western US is scheduled to depart it's current location in North Carolina on April 23. It will stop at New Orleans at the IEEE PES T&D conference. After the conference, it will head west stopping at various
stops along the way to meet our IEEE members and introduce them to the MOVE truck and team members. It will end at San Diego at the VICS / Honor ceremony on May 6.
Along the way, it will make stops in Oklahoma City, Dallas, Albuquerque and Phoenix.
This notice is being sent to Tour and have discussion about the MOVE-2 truck scheduled to arrive in OU Norman Campus the afternoon of Sunday, May 1, 2022.
