The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX, is hiring for an Electronic Resources Librarian. This on-site Faculty Associate position is part of the Technical Services department and reports to the Discovery Services Librarian. Major/Essential Functions of the Position * Supports the Values Based Culture of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. * Adheres to institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures. * Directly supervises and trains two full-time staff. * Identifies, evaluates, and stays current with emerging trends, best practices, standards, and issues in cataloging, metadata, electronic resources, and discovery services that have potential for enhancing access to electronic resources for users and improves Technical Services workflows. * Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with key Library departments to develop strategies relating to electronic content, cataloging, and discovery services. * Identifies and corrects problems arising from obsolete or incorrect information appearing in bibliographic records. Ensures the online catalog is complete and up to date. * Serves on relevant Library committees, task forces, and/or working groups. * Trains all users on use and functionality of ILS, including TTUHSC Libraries employees. Is the backup for Discovery Services Librarian regarding discovery system training. * Maintains awareness of Open Access electronic resources. * Identifies the need for special projects, develops goals, and recommends initiation to supervisor; leading as appropriate and necessary. * Adds to the knowledge base of the profession. * Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master's Degree from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited institution required. New graduates are welcome to apply. Preferred Qualifications Strong English grammar and punctuation skills required. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Organizational skills and communication skills. Knowledge of current national cataloging standards. Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and bibliographic systems (OCLC, World Cat, National Library of Medicine). Strong analytical ability. Planning ability.
