I have good antenna news: we’ve found someone have apparently found a company, Green Country Towers, to erect the antennas within our budget. The original company, Top Hand Towers ghosted us. Probably just as well since their sloppiness likely led to the loss
of the replacement antennas.
A second company made a bid of $25k+, roughly 5X what we have to work with.
This company responded that we’ll likely get change back from our $5800 that’s available.
This means that it’s fast approaching time to assemble the antennas. This isn’t trivial. We’ll take some extra steps to insure these never disassemble themselves. Even though I’m merely the ASD RS faculty advisor, I’ve assembled a fair number of antennas
and so have experience with Stuff That Went Wrong. This is all preamble to I’ll supervise the assembly.
We are not on any kind of fast track, but we need to start the process. Almost everything but final assembly can be done in the space just outside the station, so we needn’t freeze our kiesters off.
