Hey folks,
Hope you all had a good summer. It should be an exciting year for OU
Habitat. We are set to begin fundraising for the first OU house, which
is slated to start next year. That means in the meantime we need to
raise $25,000! It will be a challenge but if everyone helps pitch in we
can do it.

Our first fundraising event is planned for the first home football game
on Sept 5th. We are going to sell t-shirts, hats, and 2x4's (really) to
the football-goers. We will need your help-- if you're interested
please email me at [log in to unmask] (Don't respond to this
list--everyone will get it).

On the topic of fundraising, if you're in a student group looking for a
project we are looking for partners for the OU house. Your group just
has to raise some money for the house, and then you can all come out and
work on it.

There will be a new volunteer orientation night on Sept 1st which you
are all welcome to attend. I'm not quite sure where it's going to be,
but probably in a church near campus. We'll keep you informed. If you
want to learn more about Habitat or have friends who want to be
involved, this is for you.

Lastly Norman Habitat is just starting their next house. You are all
welcome at the building site-- just be aware that if a whole bunch of
people show up on one day their may not be enough work for everyone.
The house is on Himes and Stubbman, 3 blocks south of Robinson St, 1
block from the railroad tracks. I think they will be building next
Saturday.

Hi, everybody.

I hope your summers went well, and you're ready to get into the swing of
things again. The semester has begun for Habitat. We've got some
exciting prospects for fundraising this year, and we've also been
promised a house of our very own from the Norman affiliate. So, this
year is shaping up to be pretty busy. We'll need all of you to make it
work.

The first thing that we need help with will be this Sunday, Aug 30, 3pm
at the Dale Hall Breezeway. We are going to post flyers for Habitat
around campus, so the more of you who can help, the better. Please email
me ([log in to unmask]) if you plan on showing up, but don't hesitate in coming
even if you couldn't send me something back.

Thanks, guys. See you Sunday.

Hey.
I'm gonna bother you guys once more with another round of flier
postings. Wednesday evening (Sept 2nd) at 9:00, we're going to meet once
more at the Dale Hall Breezeway (between Dale Hall and Dale Tower for
those of you who don't know) to put up more fliers. Bring staplers and
masking tape if you have them, and we'll let the students here know when
our next meeting is going to be.

This time I'd like it if you'd email me back even if you don't plan on
helping with fliers. This goes out to 70+ people, and last time not one
person emailed me back. Is anybody listening?

Anyway, see you Wednesday.

Hey everyone,
My name is Holli Myers, and I'm the new Fundraising Chair for Habitat.
We've come up with several great ideas to raise money for Habitat, and
we need lots of help so we can have a successful year.
First, the Norman Chapter has given us the opportunity to build our own
house this year, but we have to raise $25,000 in order to do that. It
may seem like a lot, but it won't be difficult if we have enough people
helping out. Keep in mind that not all of the activities that we do
will require a lot of time, and not everyone has to help at every
activity. However, if you do sign up to participate, please do your
very best to follow through. I will be giving you plenty of notice so
that shouldn't be a major problem.
I know everyone's schedule is very hectic, so I will be planning out
the fundraising activities for the year within the next week or so. I
will send out the specific dates as soon as possible so everyone can
mark it on their calendars. If a date conflicts with enough people, we
can change it. I want to make it easy for those who want to
participate.
I am forming my fundraising committee, and I would like about 10
people. We will be having meetings about 2 times a month, and dates and
times can be very flexible considering the small amount of people. The
committee will be in charge of organizing all of the fundraising
activities. If anyone is interested, email ([log in to unmask]) or call me
(579-4092) if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Holli Myers

Hi,

We're going to be having two work days next month for OU students which
you're all invited to attend. The first on will be Oct 10, and the next
one Oct 17. We can bring around 15 people more or less each day. I
don't know what we will be working on, but it will be just whatever
stage the house is at at that point.

If you'd like to come to one or both days, send me an email and let me
know which day you'd like. We will start at 8:30 in the morning and
work until 3:00 or so. Of course, you aren't required to stay the
entire time. They will be serving lunch for us at about 11:30.

The work site is located on Himes and Stubbman, 3 blocks south of
Robinson and 1 block east of the railroad tracks. You don't need to
bring any tools or anything, just wear comfortable clothes that you can
get dirty. I can arrange transportation if you need it. It should be
lots of fun--- I hope to see you all there!

Howdy,
Sorry to do this to you on such short notice, but for those of you who
were planning on attending the meeting scheduled for tomorrow, don't
go. We're going to have to postpone it for a little while. I'll let
you know when we will reschedule it, and then we can talk about our
fundraising plans.
As always, if you have any questions, just drop me a line, and I'll be
glad to answer them.

Hi there,
This message is just to reconfirm to people who have already signed up
that we will be having a workday this Saturday (Oct 17). It appears
likely that we are going to have a big crowd (25-30 people), so if you
are for some reason unable to make it, don't worry. We will be putting
the shingles on the roof, so it will be a bit crowded up there. If you
only want to work in the morning or in the afternoon, that will be fine
too.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Thanks

After further consultation, it appears that the house is not quite ready
for roofing yet. Rather we will be putting on the decking on part of
the roof and doing some other stuff to get the roof ready. We may also
be putting sheetrock in the other house.

Hi all,
The building manager from Norman asked me to find about 7-10 people to
help do some roofing this Sat (Oct 31st). If you would like to come
please send me an email and I'll put you on the list. I think this
mailing list has about 100 people on it so please be understanding if
you don't get to go. If there are too many people at the work site then
there are just a bunch of people standing around.
The house is located at Himes and Stubbman, 3 blocks south of Robinson
and one block east of the railroad tracks. We will be starting around
8AM.

Thanks
Mike Schneider

In case you missed the first announcement (there are several new people
on this list) we will be having a work day this Saturday, October 31st.
We need about 7-10 people to help with the roof. So far only about 4
people have told me they wanted to go, in contrast with the excessivly
large pool of labor at our last workday. So, we still need some help.
As always, it is hard to predict how many people will respond so please
be understanding if there are too many.

The house is located at Himes and Stubbman, 3 blocks south of Robinson
and one block east of the railroad tracks. We will be starting around
8AM.

thanks

As you may have noticed, it's been raining a lot. Consequently we
won't be working tommorrow. Presumably we will do the roofing next week
but I don't have any details.

By the way, if you're tired of getting this mail you can send an email

Norman Habitat for Humanity will be having a volunteer orientation
meeting on Thursday, November 5 at McFarlin Memorial Church (419 S.
University). The meeting will be from 6:00 - 6:45PM. This is a good
opportunity for any one who wants to get more involved. They will be
discussing how Habitat works and what is done in Norman, as well as
things volunteers can do help.

We are going to hang flyers sometime next week to advertise the meeting.
It's a pretty big job, so we need some help. If you can help, let me
know. Speaking of which, we could really use a dedicated volunteer
coordinator to handle things like this and getting people organized for
work days. If you'd like to that, let me know as well.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello everyone. I, Bradey must find twelve people to go with us for the

Collegiate Challenge trip this spring break to El Paso. Since it is for

habitat for humanity the OU Habitat email list seemed like a good place
to start looking for people. The trip will cost about $60, which
includes transportation, lodging, and some food. As I said we will be
traveling to El Paso and working on a house sponsored by the Habitat
affiliate there. There will be time for enjoying ourselves as well. If

you 're interested please email me.
Thanx,
Bradey.

Hi there,
I'm writing this message to all of you to keep everyone informed about
our plans for next semester. The two big things going on are house
construction and Collegiate Challenge.

As you have hopefully found out by now, OU Habitat will be building it's
first house next semester! This is a very exciting project for us. OU
HFH is responsible for raising the funds and supplying the labor.

We will be holding a ground-breaking ceremony soon after school starts
in January. We would like everyone to come and help celebrate!
Construction will begin in mid-February and end in mid-May (hopefully).
There will be a total of 16 working days, approximately 8 or 10 of which
will require volunteers (the other days are done by contractors). We
will be scheduling student groups and individuals to come work.

Ross Nelson ([log in to unmask]) will be in charge of scheduling student
groups. If you have a group that is interested in helping please
contact him. Rita Patel ([log in to unmask]) will be organizing individual
volunteers. We will also need help in supplying lunch each work day,
and we are looking for people to be site hosts. The site hosts will
meet the volunteers in the morning, give them a name tag, talk a little
about safety, etc etc. If you are interested in taking on either one of
these jobs, please contact Rita. (By the way, you don't need any
experience to be a site host.)

Our other activity next semester will be Collegiate Challenge. This is
a really cool opportunity for anyone who wants to get more involved with
Habitat. During spring break, we will be traveling with 12 people to El
Paso, TX (which, by the way, is right on the US-Mexico border, so you
will have the opportunity to visit Mexico as well). The cost is about
$60, and it's a whole lot of fun. Contact Bradey McDied
([log in to unmask]) if you'd like more info or to sign up.

Mike Schneider
President, OU HFH
