Here's the story about a micro radio station that was set up to help
evacuees from Hurricane Katrina...it's a great example of community media!
> AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PACIFICA/KPFT FAMILY
> THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
>
> A little bit of radio history; good radio, people's radio,
> non-commercial radio, was made today in Houston, Texas.
> Despite opposition from political operatives with their own
> crass agenda, WE THE PEOPLE, put a fully legal, fully
> functional radio station on the air. Finally, the thousands
> of evacuees will be able to speak FOR THEMSELVES,
> TO THEMSELVES, real time, right there, for free.
>
> To everyone of you at KPFT and the Houston IndyMedia
> crowd who put in time, money and effort; to all of you who
> work daily to keep Pacifica Radio on the air, you should be
> very proud of yourselves. As proud as a new parent showing
> off pictures of their shiny new baby.
>
> I will continue to work the media from here in Austin.
