Subject: musical writing marathon invitation

On September 10, 2010, teachers from National Writing Project sites from Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia will meet at Iroquois Park in Louisville, Kentucky for a 2 hour writing marathon. Participants will write from a music-themed writing prompt (chosen from a list prepared by Paul W. Hankins, a TC with the Indiana University Southeast Writing Project) prior to the event on the 10th. The sharing of these pieces will be the opening activity of the marathon. More details will be forthcoming.

After sharing, participants will be invited into writing activities centered around the music of Corey Smith. These will be provided by Crystal Howell and April Estep from Coalfield Writers, the satellite of Marshall University Writing Project.

Since everyone can’t join us in Louisville there will be prompts placed in a special group on the NWP iAnthology ning, hosted by Bonnie Kaplan, Co-director and Technology Director with the Hudson Valley Writing Project and Kevin Hodgson, Tech Liaison with the Western Mass Writing Project. These prompts will allow other NWP TCs to share in the experience of a multi-site write. After the 2 hour marathon, participants are invited to attend a concert by Corey Smith held in the Iroquois Ampitheater. Tickets are on sale now. Corey’s show will more than likely sell out, so it’s recommended that attendees buy their tickets as soon as possible. Tickets can be purchased by visiting http://coreysmith.com/shows
