Subject: Friday loop
Hi all,
This past week we saw the results of your work on the Dear Colleague letter tallied and we were able to inch even closer to our launch date for NWP Connect.
=============
About NWP Connect
=============
NWP Connect is our new social networking system for the NWP. We believe we will be able to open the system to you, NWP site leaders, next week...perhaps as soon as Monday.
So keep an eye out for a special site bulletin and instructions about how to join this social network next week. The system is still a work in progress, (like most development projects), but we are confident you will find many uses for it. The idea is to get you all into it to learn about it and explore its potential before inviting in the larger community. So consider yourselves the special preview audience.
But now onto our other topic:
====================
A note from Sharon Washington
====================
Last week we were able to confirm the results of our lobby efforts. In response, Sharon Washington wanted to add this message about the Dear Colleague process to the Friday loop:
To NWP site directors, teacher consultants, and supporters around the country, THANK YOU for all of your efforts on the recent Dear Colleague letters. The final numbers of signatures on the Mikulski Dear Colleague letter in the U.S. Senate was twenty-six (26) signatures, and there were fifty-seven (57) signatures on the Miller-Van Hollen Dear Colleague letter in the U.S. House of Representatives. This really is a tremendous achievement.
With thoughts of the many students we reach through our work, thank you. You’re amazing and wonderful!
Sharon
