Hi all,

First, we said we'd go back to the last Monday of the month for our next meeting, but I've just noticed that that would be Memorial day. I'd like to suggest that we do Monday, May 19th instead. If that won't work, let me know.

Here are my notes from today's meeting:

Local Developer Events

  * Several campus dev people caught the most recent http://okcjs.com/ talk and reported that it was a great session on the node.js + redis stack used by http://crunchmagic.com to power their game recommendation engine.
  * The OKC PHP users group is rebooting. It looks like they're organizing at http://www.meetup.com/OklahomaPHP/ and we probably have enough people who are interested to organize a carpool.
  * The OKC Java Users Group's May meeting is coming up as well, but that's a lunch time event on the north side of OKC and people were less interested given the drive time.
  * Several people are planning to go to tomorrow's iOS Developer Roadshow (1pm, April 22, Meacham Auditorium)
  * People are definitely interested in local developer events, so post any that you hear about to the list.

Campus Developer Census

  * After some discussion of alternatives, there was a general agreement that we would experiment with creating a GitHub organization for the group and building the Developer Census in a repo there.
  * We've all got the global address book, so we won't worry about including emails or phone numbers.
  * I'll create the organizational account and the repository and post details to the mailing list later this week. Email me with your GitHub ID if you want to help get that off the ground.

Organizing Speakers

  * We're going to work on organizing a speaker for Fall, shooting for late Sept or early Oct. The likely topic will be an introduction to Git and GitHub. We want to bring in a local speaker, book a larger venue, and do a general invite, including students.
  * As a trial run, we're going to work on organizing a local speaker for summer, shooting for sometime in June. The suggested topic for that is, "Web Platform Workflows"

May Meeting

  * We want to have people do 5ish minute lightning talks on a favorite developer tool or resource.
  * I'll organize a signup sheet a little closer to the meeting.

June Meeting

  * We're going to see if we can recruit someone to come give a presentation on integrating with campus data sources.
  * Thao Pham has a speaker in mind who might be interested in presenting on a recent project along those lines and will try to recruit them.

That's all that I have, but feel free to chime in with anything that I missed. Thanks for coming, and I'll see you next time.

Logan
