Subject: Now Recruiting RC Faculty for Advocate Leader Briefing Sessions at ACMG Annual Meeting

Dear RC (and NCC/NBSTRN) Leaders:
We need your help!

Each year since 2006 ACMG has hosted consumer advocates at its annual meeting through an organized program that includes daily meetings with leaders in medical genetics and newborn screening. This highly valued activity brings an additional dimension to the meeting experience-the perspectives and voices of the most critical cohort in the delivery of genetic services. It has also introduced over 50 consumer advocates to the College and its members since the program's inception.
As you know, the 2012 Advocate Leaders program has been restructured as a partnership between the NCC and the RCs, with each RC selecting one or two Advocate Leaders who are involved in RC activities to attend the 2012 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting through a special track seamlessly integrated into the overall conference. In addition, they will enjoy mentoring and the personal ambassadorship of genetic counseling graduate students from the University of Arkansas for the Medical Sciences.
This is where you fit in: A highlight of the Partnership Program is the Daily Briefings, during which up to 3 faculty members each present something important they have learned at the meeting and relate this to their work. These intimate and informal discussions speak lively conversations, generating many questions from the Advocates to the faculty. Interacting with the Advocates has been a stimulating and enjoyable experience for all who have participated.
The 3 sessions for which we are recruiting faculty are:
* Wednesday March 28, 12:00-1:30 PM (lunch provided)
* Thursday March 29, 11:30-1:00 PM (lunch provided)
* Friday March 30, 11:30-1:00 PM (lunch provided)
If you are interested in participating as a faculty member, please contact Judith Benkendorf with your availability at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> no later than COB Monday March 12. (If you need to look at the conference schedule to confirm your availability, go to http://submissions.miracd.com/acmg2012/Itinerary/SearchResultsProgram.asp.)

If you have any questions, please let me know. We look forward to your participating in this exciting program.

With best regards,
Judith
