Subject: Sign on letter to Secretary Sebelius on medical foods and essential health benefits

The National PKU Alliance is asking you to join us in signing a letter to Secretary Sebelius at the Department of Health and Human Services on the importance of including medical foods for the treatment of inborn errors of metabolism in the essential health benefit package under the Affordable Care Act.

In the last few weeks both patients and professionals have attended each of the HHS listening sessions on the EHB package, and the feedback from HHS has been very positive. This sign on letter is the next step to ensuring that treatment for disorders diagnosed through newborn screening are included benefits under the final package.

Please read the attached letter, and if you agree, contact Nicole Polkowski ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or 715-437-0478) to let her know that your organization would like to be listed as a supporter on this letter. The deadline for responding is Nov. 30.
Sincerely,

Christine
