Since some people expressed interest, I took an hour and put up a Bugzilla
installation for you guys.

http://bugzilla.isg.omrf.org

Bugzilla is a bug tracking web application written for the Mozilla team and
was released as open source software. Bugzilla.mozilla.org handles hundreds
of thousands of bugs. Bugzilla is also installed on numerous internal servers
for software development.

At my previous job we used it to track tech support requests and internal
projects.

The system is not just limited to bugs. It can be used for such things as:
- feature requests
- DNS entry requests
- change requests
- anything that involves a to-do list

The "bugs" on the bug tracker can be commented upon, and they have multiple
statuses, priorities, and severities. They are searchable and organized by
product. You can use keywords to flag certain circumstances around a bug.
Bugs can depend upon other bugs (example: someone needs to get some
information up on a web page, but first you have to fix it so that people can
upload to the web page in the first place).

You can also copy people on issues so they see everything that goes on with
the bug.

If you'd like a demonstration and/or short lesson on how to use Bugzilla, let
me know. Either email me, or contact me on Jabber. If enough people would
like a demonstration, I'll put together a presentation.

Again, this is an ISG service which means that I will help support and train
ISG people in addition to my lab. I *might* do personal favors for others, it
depends on how busy I am. If your department/lab wants to use this service
you are going to have to support them (or make a deal with another ISG person
who is willing to do it).

For ISG people: after a quick rundown of how things work and what to do/not
do, I'll make you an administrator on Bugzilla so you can create categories
for bugs and such things. You do not need to be an administrator to file a
big, edit a bug, or comment on a bug.

Have a nice weekend,
Alan
