The version I have used (which was a few years ago) could crack passwords
out of a local SAM file. It was handy for testing for easy passwords in a
domain and also for those times when you've forgotten an admin password (or
otherwise need to acquire it).

I'm not sure how this is supposed to help. The program sniffs passwords
from networked computers, and does not contain a boot option. It seems
to operate by capturing authentication packets sent accross the
network.
