Subject: Fwd: Deadline Approaching: SCRiM Summer School 2015

Posoh (Hello),
My apologies for not announcing this opportunity at the IPCCWG.
Please forward to those who may be interested.

CMN SDI is a member of the NSF sponsored research network "Sustainable Climate Risk Management (SCRiM)", led by Penn State. As part of SCRiM, a summer school is offered on Sustainable Climate Risk Management. This summer we've added a "Tribal Perspectives on Climate Change" session. The purpose of this session will be to educate up and coming climate scientists on Tribal issues and perspectives as they relate to climate change. Many of the participants will likely not have a basic knowledge of Tribal issues. So, to a certain extent, this will be an introductions to the Tribal histories and stories we are familiar with and then tied to climate change. But, there is also an opportunity for Tribal students to learn from their climate scientist counterparts, and in turn work together to develop insight into climate models and strategies that can be based on indigenous ways of knowing.
If you are, or know of, a Tribal post-doc or grad student working along the lines of climate science please forward this e-mail and encourage them to consider it.
If you, or they, have questions they can contact me and I would be glad to help them with go over the materials.
Deadline is March 22, 2015. Information is below.
Waewaenan (Thank you)

Third Annual
Summer School in Sustainable Climate Risk Management

for postdocs and advanced graduate students
3-7 August 2015 at Penn State University

The Network for Sustainable Climate Risk Management (SCRiM<http://scrimhub.org/about.php>) links an international, transdisciplinary team of climate scientists, economists, philosophers, statisticians, engineers, and policy analysts to answer the question, "What are sustainable, scientifically sound, technologically feasible, economically efficient, and ethically defensible climate risk management strategies?"

As a central part of its educational and research mission, SCRiM hosts an annual summer school to foster opportunities for collaboration and to provide a solid foundation in the broad, multidisciplinary knowledge, tools, and methods of the diverse fields participating in the network.

A key focus of the workshop will be developing a common vocabulary to help foster enhanced cross-disciplinary communication, enabling the possibility for future collaborative research. Participants will also gain hands-on experience with key methods and tools including robust decisionmaking, use of simple models, and analysis of relevant datasets.

Lodging and meals are provided for all participants. In most cases, we are also able to provide full travel support.

This program is targeted at advanced graduate students and postdocs. However, in special circumstances, we may be willing to consider applications from other early-career professionals who have recently completed their master's or doctoral degrees and are working in SCRiM-relevant fields.

To apply, visit scrimhub.org/summer-school.<http://scrimhub.org/summer-school> Apply by 22 March 2015 to receive full consideration.
