Hi everyone -
Completely spaced on posting this announcement from the last SCARS meeting...
The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon organizers seek ham radio operators to assist with marathon communications. The marathon will take place in downtown OKC on Sunday, 29 April 2007; more than 10,000 runners are expected to participate. Start time is 6:15 a.m. and the race will conclude around noon. Ham volunteers are needed to ride with the SAG support vehicles, assist at the medical tent, and to report bib numbers from each mile marker to the marathon organizers (among other things). If you do not have a 2 m radio (mobile or HT), they can provide one. They can also try to accommodate your schedule if you can only volunteer for part of the marathon. As Tom put it, "If you have an opposable thumb, we can use you." Volunteers will receive a marathon T-shirt and food. For more information or to volunteer, click on http://www.okcmarathon.com/ or send e-mail to Tom Webb ([log in to unmask]).
Thanks!
