Greetings all!
Made some headway this weekend in our endeavors to make the shack bigger and
better well maybe just better. We did get the ole FT-736 VHF/UHF rig working
splendidly (after some operator error it puts out a measured 55w
2m...Yowzers!!!. So we have yet another fine radio specimen. We (Stan,
Chris, Jason and Myself) attempted to build a 2m dipole out of spare wire
but our efforts were not met with much success as the antenna was resonating
on a meager 135 mhz instead of our desired 145mhz. With that behind me I
would like to propose a few items for the Aug 2nd meeting.

1. I would like to put to a vote NOT to sell the Heathkit-SB102 (I believe
we can make the ole bugger work with a small investment and will be happy to
explain what plethora of information have been able to attain at great cost
to any inquiring minds)
2. I would like to propose we leave the FT-736 as the base station which
frees up the much lighter and portable radios(ie the mobiles as they were
meant to be) for Howdy week ect.
3. I know its tough to get any antennas up any height but the club should
think about investing in a better 2m antenna (being as mine sucked maybe we
can put a rotator to use with a yagi !?!?!) for the Yaesu 736 base station
preferably one at least on the side of the roof of the building pending we
can get it there.
4. Now that the 736 is working. We should invest in another mic to allow
using the 736 and the dual band Yaesu at the same time. Would like to see us
get a nice desk mic for it. Im sure we could wire something for it provided
we have the ? pin cable via beg/borrow/steal from other parts bins and what
not.

That is all,
