Successful meeting at SCARS Field Day site. Even collected some dues!
As acting treasurer, I can tell you that we have, between our two
accounts, $708.47.

As acting treasurer, I can also tell you that we (me, Faculty Advisor
Kim, Faculty Advisor Emeritus Jud) plan to dedicate a chunk of this
money (but not all) to the W5TC/WX5NWC HF Beam Rehab Project. The
SteppIR on the Glen Martin Engineering spike on top of NWC snapped its
mast bolt AGAIN and took at least the SteppIR control cable with it
once it started spinning. It may be that the control box is hosed as
well. The good news (great news) is that it appears that the Yaesu VE
rotator is OK. ("VE" is short for "very expensive" because I don't
remember the model off-hand - but top of the Yaesu list). Dr Elmore
and I were able to verify that it turns, feeds back position, and even
has enough friction on the mast to turn the antenna.

TENTATIVELY, we've scheduled a first meeting for 8/31 at 1900 hours
local, location TBD, but this date/time is subject to change (in fact,
I may be out of town then). We don't want to leave it too far into
the semester.

Mr Boren (Altus, not David) will continue as president but we'll need
to appoint/elect some more officers pretty quickly once the semester
starts. Altus also said he would look into Howdy Week particulars,
too, so we may need some help there.

More later, I'm sure.

73,
Peter
