Thanks Sergio, for the initiative. I think OURMedia should have a strong
presence at the WSF. My ideas are going in two different directions:

1. we could organize a very high-impact event, on the street, lots of
images, sound, music, multimedia. A kind of carnival of alternative and
citizens' media. Browsing our list of members I see we have so many
contacts, we are so close to so many fascinating projects and people. What I
have in mind would be a sampler of very different initiatives: women's
radiosoaps in Lima (Rosa Maria), videos by indigenous communities in Brazil
(Pat, do you have any contacts?), Bush Radio (Tanja Bosh), samples of media
produced by children and youth (dean Graber, Manuel Castillo, Tony Dowmunt),
anti-globalization, Indimedia, (Dee dee, Dorothy), media by youth in
Argentina (Susana), samples of indigenous media (Antoni, Donald, Michael
Meadows, Lorna), radical rock (Alan), Voices (Ashish), Radio Estrella del
Mar (clemencia) ...etc. I imagine many of these groups are already wanting
to go or planning on going, so the idea would be to organize the event and
to get money for people who want to attend but have no funding for travel.
2. at a different level, I think we should organize something more
"formal", a joint event with AMARC, WACC, CRIS, the Highlaners, and others;
it could be a workshop on civil society and access to media, or something in
preparation of the World Summit in Geneva in 2003. I am already in the
process of contacting these other organizations to see who would want to
co-organize. Maybe a workshop about the discussion taking place in CRIS and

Castillo), antiglobalización, independent media centers (Dee Dee, Dorothy),
(Antoni, Donald, Michael Meadows, Lorna), rock radical (Alan), Voices
