*OurMedia 9 – Call for Proposals*  (en castellano más abajo)

The Organising Committee of OM-8 in Colombia issues this call for proposals
addressed to the whole OurMedia network worldwide for the preparation and
hosting of the next conference, OurMedia 9.

At this point we are only requesting a message of intent stating:

“We [collective, organisation or university] are willing to organise and
host OurMedia 9 in [country] during 2010. In order to achieve this we will
set a Local Committee made of communication academics, activists and
artists.”

The International Committee will only review proposals from those that offer
to organise and host OM-9 and commit in principle to do it.

The priority in the selection process for OM-9 will be the regions where the
network has not yet met, such as Central Asia, South East Asia and the
Middle East. Proposals from those regions, either for 2010 or 2011, are
welcome.

For those members of OurMedia not familiar with what the hosting of a OM
conference entails, here are some rough details, always keeping in mind that
the most important is the decision and willingness to take up the
responsibility:

a)    Establishing a Local Committee made of 8 to 10 individuals (artists,
activists and academics), which will work in partnership with the
International Committee.

b)    Seeking funding or in-kind contributions for air tickets, lodgement,
food, translation and printing, which usually amounts to 30,000 to 40,000
US$.

c)    Developing a five-day programme for the conference, including a
one-day field visit to participatory communication activities.

*NuestrosMedios 9 – Llamado a Propuestas*

El Comité Organizador de NM-8 en Colombia lanza a toda la red de
NuestrosMedios en el mundo, este llamado a propuestas para la preparación de
la próxima conferencia, NuestrosMedios 9.

Por el momento solamente esperamos un mensaje de intenciones que exprese:

“Nosotros [nombre del grupo, organización o universidad] estamos dispuestos
a organizar y albergar NuestrosMedios 9 en [país] durante el año 2010. Para
lograr este objetivo vamos a conformar un Comité Local compuesto por
académicos, activistas y artistas de la comunicación.”

El Comité Internacional tomará en cuenta solamente las propuestas de
aquellos que ofrecen organizar y albergar la conferencia, y que se
comprometen a ello, al menos en principio.

La prioridad en el proceso de selección para NM-9 serán las regiones en las
que la red no se ha reunido todavía, como Asia central, Sueste Asiático y
Oriente Medio. Las propuestas de estas regiones, tanto para 2010 como para
2011, son bienvenidas.

Para aquellos miembros de NuestrosMedios que no están familiarizados con lo
que significa organizar una conferencia, aquí van algunos detalles, tomando
siempre en cuenta que lo más importante es la decisión y la voluntad de
asumir la responsabilidad:

a)    Establecer un Comité Local de 8 a 10 miembros individuales (artistas,
activistas y académicos), que trabajará en relación con el Comité
Internacional.

b)    Buscar fondos y contribuciones en especie para cubrir el costo de los
pasajes, alojamiento, alimentación, traducción e impresión, que generalmente
asciende de 30,000 a 40,000 US$ dólares.

c)    Diseñar un programa de cinco días para la conferencia, incluyendo un
día reservado para la visita de experiencias de comunicación participativa.
