From Rhonda Slatten:

At Alcott our eighth graders invite their parents for
a Poetry with Parents Day. The students write poems
with their parents. One of those poems is a two voice
poem. Ours is about highschool. The parents write
what they see as their eighth graders go to high
school and the eighth graders write what they see.
The parents and their student share their poems with
the group. The parents read their first line and then
the student reads their first line and so on. Tears
are usually involved as these poems invoke powerful
emotions. The parents and students also write to
music and art and then share. It is always an awesome
day!!!!
