I'm forwarding this to the list from Jennifer Watson, State Language Arts
Coordinator. It is for secondary English teachers.

Friends, please share this information:

Dear Ms. Watson,

It was good to chat with you this afternoon about the JasperLinks
Scholarship Writing Contest. You mentioned that you could forward this
information to groups that would find it valuable. If they could inform
secondary English teachers of our contest, we would greatly appreciate it.
Every effort to inform teachers, students, and parents is a door of
opportunity for the students of Oklahoma.

The Grand Prize is $1,000 for higher education, and publication on both
our website and in a bound collection. Students may opt to receive an
interest-bearing U.S. Savings Bond. And they may enter an essay and/or a
short story as often as they like, thereby potentially building a sizable
college fund.

Our judges are classroom English teachers and we ask them to do something
that is unusual for writing contests. Our judges not only select the best
entries, but they also critique all of the semi-finalists¹ entries.
Because we believe in encouraging students to write well, we use this
contest to facilitate strong writing.

Parents, students, teachers, and counselors are invited to visit our
website at http://contest.jasperlinks.com for the contest rules and
application. You may need to copy and paste the URL into your browser¹s
address box.

Our first deadline of this year is April 1, so we encourage students to
submit their entries as soon as possible.

Again, I appreciate you helping us get the word out about the JasperLinks
Scholarship Writing Contest.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions.

Regards,
Jacque Smith
