Special Site Bulletin
National Writing Project Receives Funding Under the Supporting Effective Educators Development (SEED) Program<https://exchange.ou.edu/owa/UrlBlockedError.aspx>

Dear Colleagues,

We did it!! We just received notification that the NWP’s proposal Leveraging a National Improvement Infrastructure for Professional Development to Improve Writing Instruction for All Students for a Title II SEED grant was funded for $11.3M.

As you may remember, NWP proposed three priorities for our SEED grant:

  1.  Increasing the number of teacher-leaders prepared to improve the teaching of writing;
  2. Increasing sustained professional development services in the teaching of writing to
high-need schools; and
  3. Developing and piloting new online professional development resources to improve the
teaching of writing.

We will be sharing more detailed information in messages and phone calls after we review the grant requirements and the new budget timeline. We are happy to gather your questions at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

For today, though, let us join together and celebrate our shared accomplishment. This new grant award builds on many years of dedicated work by educators across the country, as well as your continuing efforts to educate your elected officials about the critical importance of teaching writing to all of our students.

Here is a link to the full press release<http://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/education-department-awards-246-million-grants-support-teacher-and-principal-dev> from the U.S. Department of Education.

Congratulations to all of us!

Sincerely,

Sharon J. Washington
