Motivating Students for ACT Practice

How do we make test prep and practice more engaging and fun for students? In this session, participants will have the opportunity to play a few games, take home ready-to-use lessons, and discuss ideas for further practice.

Unravel some of the mysteries of ACT Reading.  In this session, participants will unpack ACT Reading passages and learn tips/tricks to tackle the texts.  Share best practices and earn a chance to win an ACT prep book!

Climbing Bloom’s Pyramid to Improve ACT English Scores 

 

Where much time in earlier grades has been devoted to remembering and understanding grammar rules, the English section of the ACT asks students to move into the upper levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Participants in this session will engage with lessons that move students beyond remembering and understanding of grammar rules into applying, analyzing, evaluating, and even creating with them, as well as look at numerous resources to guide further practice. Participants will also have the opportunity to share best practice ideas with one another.

Investigate Steps for ACT Writing Prep

Participants will learn 3 steps for better writing for the ACT and for ALL types of essays.  Learn ways to make ACT writing less daunting and conquerable for all students. Engage in a hands-on, step-by-step activity that will allow students to tackle and process ACT writing prompts.
