Oklahoma Writing Project hosts “The Amazing Writing Race” 2016 Spring Writing Marathon for Studentsand TeachersThursday, March 24, 2016Oklahoma City Zoo
The Oklahoma WritingProject invites you to attend “The Amazing Writing Race.”  This year participants will experience theanimals through various writing activities and listening to zoospecialists.   Each teacher may bring 5 students per adult, grades 2nd-6th.Parents and student teachers are welcome, too.  Spaces are limited please register today!    Students and teacherswill be challenged to write narrative, opinion or informative pieces whileracing around the zoo looking for writing prompts.  All writing activities will be aligned to PASSWriting Standards.  Oklahoma WritingProject Teacher Consultants will be placed at each writing challenge checkpointto guide participants.   Teachers willaccompany their students as they race around the zoo attempting to complete allwriting prompts.    In the afternoon, everyone will attend a joint session tohave a read around.  Students andteachers will share pieces written during the race.  Come be a part of this exciting day!   Students and teacherswill need to bring a sack lunch.  Due toall the writing prompts during the day, you will stop to eat lunch between writingchallenges.  (During March, many of theusual concession stands are closed at the zoo. Bringing your own sack lunch is recommended.)  We will be outside all day, be sure to dressappropriately.  Students and teachers maybring clipboards to assist with writing. If there is inclement weather, you will receive an email by noon on Wednesday, March 23.  Please make sure you supply a valid emailaddress.
