In order to facilitate the publication of quality library research from the South Central Chapter, SCC/MLA and the South Central Academic Medical Libraries (SCAMeL) Consortium are once again co-sponsoring a two-day writing retreat during the this year's joint SCC/Southern Chapter meeting for librarians who require additional time and support in writing research manuscripts—no matter what stage of the research process they might find themselves. So if you have a poster/paper from a previous SCC annual meeting that you want to push forward to publication or if you just have a great idea but need help getting started, please consider applying!

Instructions:
In 500 words or fewer, please detail your intended use of the writing retreat. Describe your writing project in detail and its potential value as a published article. Note where you are in the research/writing process and what work is left to be done. If you have some idea as to where you will submit your final manuscript, please list those publications. Set a goal as to how much writing you intend to complete during the retreat, and what your next step will be after the retreat has concluded.
Apply: Submit your application by email to Jack Bullion ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
Deadline: August 1, 2023

The writing retreat will be held at the LSU Dental Library on Thursday, September 21 and Friday, September 22 from 9AM-5PM. Internet access will be provided by our hosts. Lunch will be provided on both days. No registration fee is required, but all workshop applicants must be registered to attend the 2023 SCC/MLA/Southern chapter conference. Travel and lodging costs are to be paid by the attendee or the attendee’s institution. Attendees are required to bring their own laptops. Internet access will be provided by our hosts. Daily lunch will also be provided both days.

For more information about the retreat, contact Jack Bullion ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). A case study about the retreat is available online; the article citation is as follows:
