Job Description
The Collections and Licensing Librarian provides innovation and expertise for the acquisition, ongoing management, and access to the Biomedical Library's collection of electronic journals, databases, and books. This position supports the licensing and discovery of the Library's resources across multiple systems and serves as the expert for issues related to electronic resources access. In addition, the Collections and Licensing Librarian contributes to collection assessment through selection, review, data analysis, and other activities. Overall, the Collections and Licensing librarian plays a crucial role in ensuring that the medical library's collection meets the information needs of its users, supports research and education, and contributes to the advancement of medical knowledge and practice.

Responsibilities:

  *   Oversees all aspects of collection development and collection management for the St. Jude Biomedical Library
  *   Coordinates with the Director of Library Services to allocate and manage collection funds
  *   Analyzes collection use, subscription costs and other resource-related expenditures to inform library administrative decisions regarding budget and collection strategies
  *   Uses metrics and other evaluation criteria to support data-driven collection decisions, and to implement practices and tools for increasing decision-making efficiency and accuracy
  *   Works with vendors and consortia to identify products and negotiate licenses for resources
  *   Coordinates the activities of the day-to-day acquisition, including ordering, receiving, activation, and invoice processing for all library materials
  *   Supports the annual collections renewal process, ensuring that all subscriptions are accurate and completed promptly
  *   Engages with Library stakeholders to gauge resource needs and to increase awareness of available collections and services
  *   Creates and maintains electronic resources metadata, links and catalog records to ensure seamless discovery and access. Maintains accurate resource lists and holdings information in library resource portal for books, journals and databases.
  *   Leads e-resource troubleshooting, collaborates with internal partners and external vendors to resolve complex issues in a timely manner, and serves as a main resource for other library personnel on electronic resources issues.
  *   Maintains the library's online presence via websites and platforms including Sharepoint, TDNet and EOS.Web.

Other Duties:

  *   Assists with outreach and communication to expand usage of library services and resources
  *   Keeps abreast of current issues and trends in acquisitions, licensing, and managing access to electronic resources
  *   Participates in library orientation training and other library resource training sessions
  *   Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution

Minimum Education:

  *   Master's degree in library science from a program accredited by the American Library Association

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Minimum of 3 years of experience in a library setting
  *   Conceptual and practical knowledge of the technologies used to manage and access e-resources
  *   Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  *   Effective computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  *   Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  *   Ability to build collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with people of varying backgrounds; work effectively with faculty, researchers, students, professional colleagues, and diverse academic groups
  *   Experience in an academic medical library, including some experience in collection development and maintenance, acquisitions or equivalent, vendor negotiations and licensing, and budgeting
  *   Demonstrated experience with invoicing and related platforms, such as Workday
  *   Demonstrated experience with collection assessment, including analyzing usage data and community feedback to fulfill both the library's and institution's mission and strategic plans
  *   Demonstrated experience with an Integrated Library System or Electronic Resource Management Platform, such as TDNet, Alma/Primo, etc.
  *   Demonstrated experience in conducting outreach and instruction

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Collections and Licensing Librarian.
