Hello all,
As I mentioned at the MAC business meeting at AEJMC, there is an event taking place in Atlanta later this month that might interest members. The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation (http://www.thesullivanfoundation.org/) will be hosting the Africa Policy Forum in Atlanta Sept. 24 - 28. The Sullivan Foundation, named in honor of the Rev. Leon H. Sullivan and founded by his daughter, continues his work to advance social justice and human rights throughout the world by bringing together leaders from diplomatic and corporate circles to make real and effective changes in the lives of the world's vulnerable populations. This year the Foundation is hosting a summit in Atlanta that bring together African heads-of-state and diplomatic and corporate leaders from the U.S. and Africa, including some high-ranking people from the Obama administration. I spoke with the Vice President of Public Affairs, and he is happy to have students and faculty come. We are invited, and so are our students. I believe they are interested in fostering better relationships with educational organizations and exploring some strategic opportunities there, and we should avail ourselves to them. For more information about the summit and all of the events planned for it, visit http://www.thesullivanfoundation.org/events/4.
I apologize for the delay, but there were some significant changes in the timing of the program (because of Obama's speech at the U.N. General Assembly), and I wanted to get out accurate information.
