RE: OMRF Linux User's Group
The OMRF Information Support Group will sponsor a Linux User's Group
for the OMRF (OMRF-LUG) . The OMRF-LUG will provide a forum for new
and experienced users of linux operating systems. The group is open to
any persons affiliated with the OMRF.
OMRF-LUG will have it's first meeting on Thursday, October 16 at 4:30
p.m. in Bell 107.
The meeting format will begin with a brief introduction to a general
linux topic (geared towards new users) followed by a question and
answer session. Demos of techniques will be provided. At least one of
several ISG members who are experienced linux users will be on hand to
answer questions. The floor will then be opened for general questions
and discussion of both basic and advanced linux topics.
The topic schedule (tentative):
October 16: Installing Linux and setting up filesystems
November 20: Adding Users, Groups, and handling permissions
December 18: Upgrades, backups, and security
If you have any questions, please e-mail Quyen Arana <
