The Ecosystem for Research Networking (ERN) Summit 2024
provides the scientific and cyberinfrastructure research
community an opportunity to gather together and discuss
ERN mission and accomplishments, hear from domain researchers
and CI professionals at smaller institutions about the
successes and challenges related to leveraging local,
regional, and national resources for projects, and learn
about funding resources and partnership opportunities,
as well as regional and national communities.
The ERN is interested in the democratization of research
instruments and gaining a better understanding from
the community during this summit will be important
as we move forward with future projects.
This two day meeting will have open discussions and
conversations on focus areas and policies pertaining to
areas of community interest including AI, quantum, research
resource access and awareness, research instruments,
workforce development, education and training.
This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Jim Martin, NSF Equal
Opportunities in Science and Engineering Committee member,
and Vice Chancellor for STEM Research and Innovation at
the University of Pittsburgh, is presenting "Re-imagining
American Innovation: Bridging the Gap to Unlock America's
Stranded Brilliance".
There will also be several NSF program directors participating
on the “Role of Funding Agencies” panel on our first day, and
we are planning an ERN Cloudlet installation workshop on
day two.
Your engagement in these activities is important to the
ERN community, and why we strongly encourage you to attend.
To add to that encouragement, we have limited travel expense
assistance funds available through our NSF CC* CRIA grant to
aid those who may have difficulty with covering travel costs.
Requests for participation in the travel expense program will
be made available through the registration process, as will
workshop sign up.
